Calle Ancha, formerly known as Generalísimo Franco, has always been known in León by its inhabitants as Calle Ancha, the current official name of the street.
It is the main street par excellence, not only in the Barrio Húmedo, but also in the historic center of the city. It has the largest concentration of shops and catering establishments in the old town, so it began to be called the Calle Ancha since its inception, although the official name was another.
It is totally pedestrianised and closed to road traffic, although we can see a certain volume of traffic due to the delivery vehicles that supply the large number of shops and establishments that are located in it and its surrounding streets.
The singularity of its buildings and the variety of architectural stylesmake this street one of the most beautiful in the whole city.
