Santo Domingo Square is the heart of the city, a wide roundabout around which the social, commercial and historical life of León revolves. It arose in 1904 during the enlargement process, better known as the ensanche, and became a strategic point for linking the Old Town with the modern part of the city.
Around it are historical buildings of great cultural and architectural significance. Buildings such as the Museum of León (CasaPallarés), the Alfonso V Hotel, the Church of San Marcelo and the statue of La Negrilla stand out.
