The Plaza de San Martín is the center of the Barrio Húmedo, an icon of the tapas and nightlife of the city, from here come many of the streets that surround the neighborhood. Formerly called the Plaza de las Tiendas because of the large number of shops that occupied the square, today it is completely full of bars and taverns typical of León.
It is one of the liveliest neighborhoods in the city, especially on weekends when people go out for shorts and tapas before going for a drink in the pubs of the surrounding streets. During the summer months the square is filled with terraces of different bars and restaurants where you can taste rations and typical dishes of the province surrounded by a good atmosphere.
