The Sierra Pambley Museum, inaugurated in July 2006, is a buildinglocated in the Cathedral Square, in an old 19th century mansion. Thevisitor is offered the possibility of visiting the home of a rich owner, agood example of a bourgeois house, which unites the memories of twoimportant families of the nobility of León with the noveltiesincorporated by an enterprising man, enthusiastic about the progressoffered by the scientific and technical advances of his time. Visitors canalso visit his work, the Foundation, which offered education to childrenand young people with fewer resources and promoted pedagogicalrenewal.
The Sierra Pambley Foundation was created with the aim of providingeducation to disadvantaged people in the provinces of León andZamora. To this end, between 1887 and 1903 Francisco Sierra Pambleyfounded five rural and urban schools in both territories (in Villablino, Hospital de Órbigo, Villameca, Moreruela de Tábara and León -city). Allof them stood out for their adaptation to the resources of the area andto the socioeconomic characteristics of the place where they werelocated.
